The Ones Behind the Noise

“Skaters meet at Germa and have a good time,” says photographer and skateboarder Louis Carter. Named after the Germanisches National Museum, Germa is a popular skate spot in the middle of Nuremberg, Germany. Since moving to Nuremberg over a year and a half ago, Louis has been documenting the skateboarders he now calls friends. They congregate, skate, smoke weed, shoot the shit. “It’s a beautiful vibe,” Louis says.
Lately, new residents have been moving into the center of the city and complaining about the noise the skateboards make. “It’s ridiculous,” says Louis, “People have been skating here for over 10 years. Crowds gather to watch the skateboarders. The new residents have to deal with it.” Complaints against skateboarders is normal within the skateboarding world and for now the skateboarders of Germa are free to skate as they wish.
These are the ones behind the noise.
