You are sharing your portrait essay, "Plastic Bird". What are these portraits about? What do they represent?
"Plastic Bird" is a figurative, yet intimate portrait series. As inspired by a statement that hit me on one of my quiet days..
"Insanity is synonymous to Freedom"
A lot of meaning could be attached to this images, but I've chosen a conceptual approach towards interpreting them.
This images represent my thoughts and a state of mind. Where I yearn for freedom.
What was your inspiration for the creative direction?
I was mainly inspired by the quietness I've had to experience for some time now. Especially towards my art. I've not been able to create for a while and I feel detached from a very essential part of me.
Who is the model? How did they express your vision?
The model is a friend of mine, Sabastine. He understands a lot of things I go through... His mind easily connects!! He's such a blessing!
Basically I told him about the images I wanted to create, and he put in soo much passion into making the best of it. Some of the poses were actually his idea
What's next for you?
Well a lot is coming!!! I'm looking forward to a whole lot of things. Until then, we keep creating and putting in our hearts. I'd love to embark on a long-term project! That's one goal I'm driving towards.
Right now, I'm just grateful to Reckless Mag, for taking a chance on me and always telling my stories!!! We're coming with something really great when the first issue drops.
