You have just released your 4th single, "L.A. Queen". What is this song about? What kind of journey are you taking us on?
I couldn’t be happier to be releasing Libra’s 4th single, specially premiering on Reckless Magazine! “L.A. Queen” is a little bit different from my previous singles. In this song I am flirting a lot with 90’s RnB and had Sade and Erykah Badu as some examples of artists that influenced me for this one. I tried to keep the same melancholic pop vibe that is part of Libra’s musical aesthetics. I am also really happy to have the eyes of my friend and photographer Larry Niehues taking care of L.A. Queen’s photo cover.
"L.A. Queen" features Brenda Carsey. Why was she the perfect collaborator for this song?
Brenda is a great friend and an amazing singer. She was the perfect fit for this song. I love her voice and I thought about inviting her while I was still composing the song. She added a lot of the soul and RnB vibes and also helped me a lot with the vocals and back up vocals harmonies. I am psyched with this collab!
How is "L.A. Queen" different from your previous singles?
I think L.A. Queen has different moments and layers. For this production I had violinist Julie Pusch responsible for all the string arrangements. That was a special touch that took the song to another level. It was co-produced by Will Golden and I and recorded at Sir Tiger Studio.
What's next for you?
I am planning to release L.A. Queen’s music video in 3 weeks. I am super stoked about it. I teamed up again with Allan Wan who directed some of Libra’s previous music videos. I don’t wanna give too many spoilers yet but it’s gonna be a party in the ocean.
I am already working on Libra’s next single too. I am planning to release it in December. Can’t wait!
